Annapurna Sanctuary (ABC )and Jomsom Muktinatha trek,
19days trek/4 nights at Kathmandu total 23 days
Level :Moderate (max. altitude 4,050 m)
Best season : March-April and Oct-Nov
For spectacular, almost touching-the-mountain views of some Himalayan giants, this is the shortest trek, and the one with the least altitude sickness concerns. The trip takes you through the heart of Gurung country, where villages are high up the mountains along the trail, the women wear distinctive jewellery with gold discs and beads, and the men were some of the bravest soldiers in World War II. As you enter the amphitheatre that is the 'sanctuary' to reach Annapurna Base Camp (South Face), the scale and icy beauty of the mountains seems to engulf you.
An easier version of the classic Annapurna trek. If you are short on time, or unsure of your fitness or comfort at altitude, this is the trip for you. You fly into Jomosom, ascend to Muktinath, getting a taste of the windy, almost lunar Himalayan desert, and then descend to Pokhara over the brilliant village of Ghorepani that serves as a viewpoint over the Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, Tukuche, and Nilgiri snow peaks. As in the olden days, today too mule and horse caravans stop in this village, whose name translates as 'horse water', to refuel.
